How to Cook Sapo Tahu, Popular Chinese food in Indonesia

Are you guys okay? I hope you are fine. I want to tell you a little about one of the foods from China that is widely enjoyed in Indonesia. This food, I try to cook today. In the stories that spread in China, this food comes from the use of claypot used in cooking this food. The advantage of cooking Claypot is that it can retain heat longer than other places. So, this food can stay warm for a long time. Because of the uniqueness of the place to cook this food, so sapo is used as the name of this food.

Sapo tofu tastes like capcay, which is a food for vegetarians. Because they don't use meat or fish. But lots of vegetables and spices. However, these foods come from non-vegetarians. Therefore, coupled with the use of fish, shrimp, and meat. In its home country, it is commonly used as one of the appetizers in parties.

Currently, this food is much modified. However, the basic ingredient of this food is egg topu. Egg Topu has a smooth and soft texture. In each serving of sapo, this food uses a lot of vegetables. Starting from carrots, mushrooms, cabbage, garlic, onions, and others. I have made this meal with the vegetables I have. Here are the ingredients I used:

  1. Chinese cabbage I use 3-4 large size chicory sheets
  2. Carrots. I used 2 large carrots
  3. Meatballs. I use 4-5 large meatballs
  4. Egg Topu
  5. Shrimp topu. I use 6-7 shrimp tops
  6. Half an onion
  7. Oyster sauce. I used a tablespoon as a tyrant
  8. soy sauce
  9. Mushroom broth
  10. Chili sauce
  11. cornstarch

Here's how to make it:

  1. Wash all the materials that will be used. And then, cut all the vegetables that have been cleaned. Starting from onions, carrots, garlic, meatballs, Chinese cabbage.

  2. Fry the egg topu and shrimp topu until browned. To fry the egg topu, you may find it difficult. Because this topu is very soft and contains a lot of water. So you have to be careful when frying them

  1. Next, saute the onions until fragrant. After that, add the carrots. Since carrots are difficult to cook, you'll need to fry the excess carrots first.
  2. After the carrots wilt, you can add the Chinese cabbage. Saute until wilted.

  1. Enter the meatballs and topu. After that add a little water. Add all ingredients. Such as oysters, chili sauce, soy sauce and mushroom broth.
  2. After boiling, add a little water to the meizena flour. Wait for it to finish.
