How to Cook Chayote, This Food is Often Cooked in Every Home in Indonesia

Some time ago, I made chayote. This food is one of the foods that is often cooked in almost every home in Indonesia. Even in many food stalls that sell this vegetable. In addition, in one of the Indonesian dishes, this chayote is often found. One of them is Sayur Lodeh and Sayur Asem.

In Indonesia, chayote is known by several names. For example in Central Java it is known as Jipang, in Central Java this vegetable is known as Manisah, in West Java this vegetable is known as Walu Siam. To the international world, it is called Chayote. It is often a food reserve for Mexicans. For the United States, vegetables are used as a menu dish at Thanksgiving.

In India and Nepal, this leaf and vegetable is widely used for curries. As for South India, it is often called eggplant bangalore. This vegetable eggplant is often used to cook desserts cooked with cheese sauce. In some countries, this vegetable is processed in various ways.

In addition, this chayote contains vitamins A, B, C noacin and ambuminoid. And, these vegetables contain folic acid which is quite good. In fact, this folic acid meets the needs of the content every day. If eaten, this vegetable often has a cool and cool sensation in the stomach. Chayote is the best food for pregnant women. The following acid content becomes a very important burden for pregnant women.

In addition, from some of the information I got, this vegetable has a lot of benefits for our bodies. For example, lowering high blood pressure, can cure canker sores, heartburn, fever in children and diabetes. In fact, chayote can spread and prevent the absorption of cholesterol in the body. The alkaloids contained in this vegetable can improve blood circulation and prevent stroke.

This vegetable was first discovered by Patrick Browne in Jamaica in 1756. This vegetable is found in the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia. In Mexico, the pumpkin plant is not only used as a vegetable, it is used as a source of carbohydrates. In Indonesia, this plant was introduced during the Dutch colonial era where chayote was imported from Thailand.

I try to make a simple meal from this food. This food is often cooked by my mother. In Indonesia, this vegetable is easy to find in the market. in fact, these vegetables are sold at a low price. I bought this vegetable for about three thousand rupiah and I got six chayote.

Are you curious about the food I make? I make stir-fried chayote. Usually at home, my mother often adds chili to add to the spicy taste. Because my family really likes spicy. So, chayote sauce is added with chili. But this time I cooked without adding chili. The way I cook it is easy. You can try it at home.

The Ingredient Use

1#. 6 pieces of chayote with small size

2#. Onion, to taste

3#. Oyster sauce, to taste

4#. salty soy sauce

5#. mushroom broth

6#. Green chili, to taste

1#. Cut the chayote to be cooked. Don't forget to slice green chilies and onions. You can cut it according to your taste. Because chayote contains sap, after cutting, chayote can be soaked before use.

2#. Heat a frying pan and give me some cooking oil. I use canola oil. Once hot, add green chilies and onions. Cook so well.

3#. After fragrant, you can add chayote. Stir until smooth and let stand until wilted.

4#. After wilting can be added water. Wait a moment.

5#. Don't forget to add seasonings such as salted socks, oysters and mushroom broth. I don't use salt and sugar as food insects. So, I just use soy sauce and oyster sauce.

6#. Stir all the spices to the bottom. Silence until it wilts.

7#. Food is ready to eat. You can eat it with rice. This food is very good. And you can cook it yourself at home.
