Breakfast at Blue Mango

In the once-bustling road of Panagsama Beach in Moalboal, a small diving village in southern Cebu, a restaurant named Blue Mango bravely started its construction while the rest of the restaurants closed one after another during the quarantine period last year.

Day in day out on our way to the beach, we watched the building slowly take shape while the rest of the foreign ex-pat population receded. Each time we passed the boarded construction site, I mentally applauded the owners and investors for courageously taking the leap to continue and complete this project.

The restaurant finally launched and opened its doors early this year.

Residents in Moalboal flocked to see the new posh nightlife destination. At night, it's an active club scene for bachelors and bachelorettes, and for family-friendly residents like ourselves, we just watched it from a distance and were content to listen to mixed reviews from friends and acquaintances.

Blue Mango Bar- Restaurant is open daily until 10pm.

Last weekend, a neighbor highly recommended their Eggs Benedict with bacon for breakfast. This piqued our curiosity. Why not?

To kickstart the weekend, @iamyohann and I went to Blue Mango for the first time.

It was empty when we arrived but customers came in not long after I finished taking photographs.

Two billiard tables occupied the rear part of the dining area where weekly tournaments are held every Wednesday. The colorful mural made by a local artist created a vibrant atmosphere and this sitting area gets busy at night.

Isn't this lovely? The poached eggs sit perfectly on top of the bacon and sourdough bread, glazed with hollandaise sauce. It was accompanied by a potato salad. The dish costs USD$ 6 (Php 298). Our neighbor is right about how delicious this is.

It doesn't come with coffee so I ordered a Hot Americano USD$ 1.6 (Php 80) which tasted better than I expected.

The breakfast portion is small. If you're one of those who live by the saying "eat breakfast like a king", you'd have to order more dishes to adhere to that.

I went there with an open mind solely for the taste and I left with a fully satiated palate.

I'm glad we tried it and I must say I don't mind coming back for another breakfast at Blue Mango.

Thank you for reading and greetings from Panagsama Beach, Moalboal, Cebu, Philippines! Have a lovely weekend!
