Good day everyone, Tostado is one of most famous delicacy here in Philippines specially in Cebu province. Tosatodo is a Spanish term that means "toasted" in English but tostado here in our province are baked. It's a kind of butter cookie made from flour, sugar, egg and baking soda. The simple cookie is baked to a golden brown color and it comes in different shapes, including star, circle, moon, heart and even flower.
But our grandma has its own recipe of preparing and baking tostado. She has her own ingredient of it that for now I cannot tell you because as you can see in my title its a secret recipe.
But it contains also some common ingredient of a traditional tostado like flour, egg, baking and sugar and the rest are secret.
The recipe is handed over to my cousins and now they the one making our grandma's recipe of tostado.
They are making it in a traditional way, like no machine involved in mixing the ingredient. They mix all the ingredient with their hands in a big bowl until the the ingredient evenly distributed.
They used wooden rolling pin to flatten the mixture evenly and form to their desire shape.
They are baking it in a traditional oven made of steel plate fired with coconut husk in the top and in the bottom of the hand made oven.
