Cold espresso and lemon granita with sea view

Summer afternoons are always very hot here in southern Italy and even today the temperatures well exceed 30 degrees Celsius. So, having the good fortune of living near the sea, my family and I decided to relax and find shelter from the heat, sitting comfortably at the table of the Barbayanne bar and tasting our cold espresso.

The expression cold is has a little coffee on the bottom and is covered with creamy white ice cream, little more than liquid, and in the transparent glass the two layers are clearly distinguishable. At this point, equipped with a teaspoon, you have to mix for a few seconds and wait for everything to blend evenly, finally obtaining a creamy coffee ice cream.

The cold espresso, on request, can be further served with a little melted chocolate, chopped walnuts and even a small biscuit. I chose the light version because it is quite sweet and also abundant, and with the addition of the other ingredients it would become even sweeter, perhaps more suitable for children rather than adults. His wife, on the other hand, preferred a good lemon granita, handcrafted. , then with crushed ice and a nice squeeze of fresh lemon, all done in real time.

The position is overlooking the sea: it is a pitch built on the sea, a breathtaking view of the Adriatic sea, which leaves all the customers truly speechless and the sea, with its scent and its noises, the absolute protagonist. In hot periods like this, the sea breeze is a desired friend because it dampens the effects of high temperatures and makes the stay very pleasant.

The Barbayanne is an American bar and in the evening it turns into a perfect reference point for nightlife, located by the sea and in the middle of the tourist seaside area. Also ideal for lunch especially for all bathers who want to spend a pleasant day at sea or for dinner, made by candlelight, with a light background music that is well suited to that of the sea., During the summer, the Barbayanne it is open day and night, welcoming customers for a super breakfast, both sweet and savory, aperitifs, lunch and dinner with both land and sea dishes.

An ideal place for those who want to stay in close contact with the sea, the furnishings are very simple and the staff very kind and helpful. A seafood menu costs around 30/40 euros, excluding wines, land menus even 20 euros. My cold espresso costs € 1.80 while the lemon granita costs € 2. No additional cost charges are required for consumption at the tables.

I hope this post has stimulated your desire for a good cold espresso.
