Hello friends of Hive, I hope you are super well.

Today I am going to share with you the preparation of some delicious cachapas. For the person who does not know what it is, cachapa is an arepa or tortilla that is made with jojoto corn dough, it is a traditional Venezuelan dish and my family loves I prepare them when I have the opportunity.

1629582790486.jpg

The first thing is to have the ground corn, at present we can obtain it in places where they are responsible for removing the leaves, shelling and grinding the corn grains at the time you are going to buy it, it sells it by kilos and this time we buy 2 kilos and a half. The photograph shows the corn as it comes out of the mill.

The cachapa could be prepared only with the ground corn but in my house we like the cachapa with more flavor and sweet so I add other ingredients, for this amount add 12 tablespoons of sugar.

1629579691123.jpg

Also 1 tablespoon of salt.

1629579719184.jpg

As the corn is very thick we completed with liquid milk, I added 3 cups of milk.

After mixing well we must obtain a dough as shown in the photo. Remember to add the amount of milk that the corn requires until you get a dough with this texture.

We heat a griddle, budare or pan until it is very hot, we add mixture and we shape it into an arepa, the amount will be defined by the size of the cachapa, the important thing in this step is not to leave it too thin. Look at the photograph.

Let cook for three to five minutes until the edges are slightly golden and turn, cook the same time on the other side.

For the filling we put butter and the cheese, in this case accompany it with grated llanero cheese (typical cheese of the Venezuelan llanera region), this cheese is ideal since it is salty and is very rich with the sweetness of the cachapa.
