One of the most abundant symbols in the cosmic horror literature of that great dreamer, who apparently was the terrifying son of Providence, named Howard Phillips Lovecraft, is none other than the one on the threshold.
Following this plot line, we could come to consider the threshold, at least in an eminently metaphorical way, as that unrepentant matchmaker who always tries to seduce us, throwing poisoned darts at our fickle curiosity.
Symbolically speaking, the threshold could also be considered as that inadvertent border or no man's land, which separates two ambivalent universes, such as waking and dreaming.
