Spices became the prima donna of their time, being the reason nations in the west sailed to the Indian Ocean, the Strait of Malacca to the South China Sea, the struggle for interests that led to colonization was also caused by spices. The countries in the spice-producing Indies islands had to defend their sovereignty. The Kingdom of Aceh Darussalam was the last sovereignty to fall into the hands of the Dutch East Indies colony.
Spices are no longer able to increase the degree of sovereignty of a country. Now the spices are in the memory design of 'Jalur Rempah Nusantara' (Archipelago Spice Route) by the government of the Republic of Indonesia.
