Now, we will continue with the fifth lesson of this Conceptual Art Course.

Today, I bring you the fifth and last point regarding: The Observation.

To better understand Observation, it is necessary to understand the mechanism by which our body transforms what it perceives as 3D reality and how we can convert it into a 2D drawing.

In the graphic above we can see that the Eye observes and perceives 3D reality. The Brain asks itself questions and interprets what it observes. The hand is the instrument that translates what the brain understands and executes the action of drawing.

In the beginning, the Brain thinks how things are, and the HAND is NOT able to copy exactly that image that was printed in the brain.

In order for the Hand to be skillful in reproducing what the eye sees and the brain understands, the exercises recommended in this course must be repeated many times. This process of Observation - Analysis - Interpretation - Execution - Evaluation - Correction, will lead us on a path of constant improvement in the drawing.

IMPORTANT FACT

The fewer lines we use to make a good drawing, the more quality it will have. This shows the mutual trust between the Brain and Hand that we are looking for.

Exercise N° 1: Advanced Copying.

After observing shapes, sizes, colors, and details, we will engage in Advanced Copying. This means that we will make difficult drawings. In this case, we will copy a complex image containing only straight lines.

To carry out the tasks in this course, I recommend using free downloadable photographs (without copyright), obtained from web pages, such as https://www.pexels.com/ https://pixabay.com/ https://unsplash.com/ and other similar ones, as they have a huge amount of images and are of great quality.

STEP 1: Download a royalty-free image of a house with only straight lines and place it on a blank canvas in Photoshop.

STEP N° 2: We will draw next to it, the complete house. Only the main structure. No need to add details. The most complicated thing is to make the structure in the right way.

STEP N° 3: Superimpose the line on the photo, compare and see where the mistakes are in the angles.

STEP N° 4: Return the line to the side of the photo and correct the mistakes. It is important not to correct the photo, to teach the hand to obey the brain.

STEP N° 5: Repeat steps 3 and 4, until the final line is as perfect as possible.

In a good drawing, it is not acceptable that only a percentage of lines and angles are correct. We must always look for 100%.

These tasks were done in Photoshop 2017 with my Star 03 V2 XP-PEN Graphic Tablet.

Hoy, les traigo el quinto y último punto referente a: La Observación.

Para entender mejor La Observación, es preciso comprender el mecanismo por medio del cual nuestro cuerpo transforma lo que percibe de realidad 3D y cómo lo podemos convertir en un dibujo 2D.

En el gráfico anterior podemos ver que el Ojo observa y percibe la realidad 3D. El Cerebro se hace preguntas e interpreta lo observado. La mano es el instrumento que traduce lo entendido por el cerebro y ejecuta la acción de dibujar.

Al principio, el Cerebro piensa cómo son las cosas y la Mano NO es capaz de copiar exactamente esa imagen que quedó impresa en el cerebro.

Para que la Mano sea diestra al reproducir lo que el ojo ve y el cerebro comprende, es preciso repetir muchas veces los ejercicios recomendados en este curso. Este proceso de Observación – Análisis - Interpretación – Ejecución - Evaluación – Corrección, nos llevará por un camino de perfeccionamiento constante en el dibujo.

DATO IMPORTANTE

Mientras menos líneas utilicemos para hacer un buen dibujo, más calidad tendrá. Eso demuestra la confianza mutua entre el Cerebro y la Mano, que buscamos.

Ejercicio N° 1: Copia Avanzada

Después de observar formas, tamaños, colores y detalles, nos dedicaremos a realizar Copias Avanzadas. Esto significa que haremos dibujos difíciles. En este caso, copiaremos una imagen compleja que solo contenga líneas rectas.

Para efectuar las tareas de este curso, recomiendo utilizar fotografías de descarga gratuita (sin derechos de autor), obtenidas de páginas web, tales como: https://www.pexels.com/ https://pixabay.com/ https://unsplash.com/ y otras similares, ya que tienen una inmensa cantidad de imágenes y son de gran calidad.

PASO N° 1: Descargaremos una imagen libre de derechos de autor, de una casa que tenga solo líneas rectas y la colocaremos en un lienzo en blanco en Photoshop.

PASO N° 2: Dibujaremos al lado, la casa completa. Solo la estructura principal. No hace falta agregar detalles. Lo más complicado es hacer la estructura en forma correcta.

PASO N° 3: Superponer el trazo sobre la foto, comparar y ver dónde están los errores en los ángulos.

PASO N° 4: Devolver el trazo hacia el lado de la foto y corregir los errores. Es importante no corregir sobre la foto, para enseñar a la mano a obedecer al cerebro.

PASO N° 5: Repetir los pasos 3 y 4, hasta que el trazo definitivo quede lo más perfecto posible.

En un buen dibujo no es aceptable que solo un porcentaje de líneas y ángulos estén correctas. Debemos buscar siempre el 100%.

Estas tareas fueron realizadas en Photoshop 2017 con mi Tableta Gráfica Star 03 V2 XP-PEN.
