Stairway to bliss

This rather rustic flight of stairs leading to Praia de São Sebastião in Ericeira, Portugal is but a small portion of the total stairs.

There's an ancient fountain of water middleway with a basin to clean one's feet. Excess water does sip through and keeps the rocks on the right constantly wet. Apparently when it rains heavily it becomes a small waterfall but from what I heard it hasn't happened in a long time.

Ericeira has very steep cliffs and most beaches have their own characteristic types of stairs. The more recent ones are wooden but these massive rock ones ones are the oldest from what I've been told.

I light painted these in 2013 with a gelled flashlight and a finger LED. On the second one I added a rotating kids toy and soap bubbles lit by a flash.
