Hola amigos de esta bella comunidad, como siempre es un gusto saludarlos y compartir con ustedes una nueva experiencia en casa. En mi Estado, las constantes fallas de electricidad se han incrementado en los últimos meses y esto, entre otras cosas, trae como consecuencia que los electrodomésticos sean cada vez más vulnerables y se dañen con facilidad. A pesar de que hemos instalado reguladores de voltaje, para contrarrestar un poco esta situación, algunos de nuestros electrodomésticos se han dañado.
Hace una semana nos dimos cuenta de que el refrigerador dejó de enfriar, ya nada se mantenía congelado y la nevera no funcionaba correctamente. Mi esposo es muy diligente en este sentido y comenzó a revisar qué pieza se había dañado, sin obtener resultados. Así que investigó en internet y encontró un video que le dio una idea de lo que estaba pasando (ver video al final del post), así que puso manos a la obra y revisó la parte interna del refrigerador por primera vez.
Hello friends of this beautiful community, as always it is a pleasure to greet you and share with you a new experience at home. In my state, the constant power failures have increased in recent months and this, among other things, results in appliances that are increasingly vulnerable and easily damaged. Although we have installed voltage regulators to counteract this situation, some of our appliances have been damaged.
A week ago we noticed that the refrigerator stopped cooling, nothing would stay frozen anymore and the fridge was not working properly. My husband is very diligent in this regard and started checking to see what part was damaged, to no avail. So he did some research on the internet and found a video that gave him an idea of what was going on (see video at the end of the post), so he got to work and checked the inside of the refrigerator for the first time.
Refrigerator does not work
El primer paso es desconectar la nevera y retirar la tapa. Este modelo tiene un par de tornillos que se pueden retirar fácilmente; puede costar un poco si las paredes internas del refrigerador están llenas de escarcha. Debemos retirar esta tapa y desenchufar algunos claves internas con mucho cuidado de no dañar nada.
The first step is to unplug the refrigerator and remove the lid. This model has a couple of screws that can be easily removed; it may cost a little if the internal walls of the refrigerator are full of frost. We must remove this cover and unplug some internal keys being very careful not to damage anything.

Como pueden ver en la imagen, todo estaba lleno de escarcha y en el refrigerador "no frost" esto no debería pasar. Esto solo nos indica que algo no está funcionando correctamente. Los ductos se tapan con la escarcha y es por esto que no congela en el área donde sí debería congelar.
As you can see in the picture, everything was full of frost and in a "no frost" refrigerator this should not happen. This only indicates that something is not working properly. The ducts are clogged with frost and that is why it does not freeze in the area where it should freeze.

La manera más rápida y efectiva de solucionar esto, es la más simple: descongelar absolutamente todo. Para esto, mi esposo uso un secador de cabello. El aire caliente del secador ayudó a acelerar el proceso, o simplemente puedes dejarla desconectada por unas 24 horas.
The fastest and most effective way to solve this is the simplest: to defrost absolutely everything. For this, my husband used a hair dryer. The hot air from the dryer helped speed up the process, or you can just leave it unplugged for about 24 hours.

Unas horas después, la escarcha se fue por completo y por la manguera trasera de la nevera, salió una cantidad considerable de agua.
A few hours later, the frost was completely gone and a considerable amount of water came out of the back hose of the cooler.
Al conectarla de nuevo, esperamos unos minutos y listo, la nevera funcionó correctamente de nuevo.
When plugged back in, we waited a few minutes and presto, the refrigerator worked properly again.
Pero, se preguntarán qué causó todo esto, resulta que mi esposo probó cada una de las piezas y encontró que, efectivamente, el Bimetálico está dañado, así que es probable que, cada cierto tiempo, debamos hacer este proceso, porque la nevera dejará de funcionar, hasta que sustituyamos esta pieza.
La función del bimetálico es activar la resistencia que se encarga de descongelar la nevera, cuando esta alcanza cierta temperatura. Quisiera explicarlo mejor, pero esto fue lo que mi esposo me dijo. En conclusión, para evitar esto debemos sustituir esta pieza tan importante para garantizar que enfríe correctamente y no se tapen los ductos de ventilación.
But, you may wonder what caused all this, it turns out that my husband tested each of the parts and found that, indeed, the Bimetal is damaged, so it is likely that, every so often, we must do this process, because the refrigerator will stop working, until we replace this part.
The function of the bimetal is to activate the resistance that is in charge of defrosting the refrigerator, when it reaches a certain temperature. I would like to explain it better, but this is what my husband told me. In conclusion, to avoid this we must replace this very important part to ensure that it cools properly and does not clog the ventilation ducts.
Aquí les dejó este truco. Si llega a pasarles, consideren revisar el interior del refrigerador, tal vez, este lleno de hielo y aquí tienen una excelente manera de hacer que funcione de nuevo, sin gastar dinero. Al menos, mientras encuentran la pieza.

Here's a little trick. If it happens to you, consider checking the inside of the refrigerator, maybe, it is full of ice and here is an excellent way to make it work again, without spending money. At least, while you find the part.
