A lo largo de nuestras vidas siempre hemos visto nacer nuevas tecnologías. Muchas de ellas han irrumpido en nuestras vidas, para darnos bienestar y hacer que nuestra existencia sea más próspera, pudiendo así disfrutar de una mejor calidad de vida junto a nuestros seres queridos. El internet es uno de esos mágicos descubrimientos que sin duda alguna, cambiaron la vida de todos en su totalidad.
Hoy día, es la tecnología que mueve al mundo en todas sus facetas, haciendo que tengamos que admitir de forma unánime y absoluta, que es imprescindible para muchas tareas y servicios que nos hacen avanzar.
Vivo en Venezuela y por muchos es conocida la situación actual en cuanto al servicio de internet en nuestro país. La empresa del Estado venezolano (Cantv), en realidad funciona muy mal en cuanto a esta prestación de servicio.
Si bien es cierto que su internet (ABA) en cuanto a velocidad y desempeño, llegó a ser uno de los mejores en sus buenos tiempos, hoy día se encuentra muy devaluado y en muchos hogares ha desaparecido, sin esperanzas de arreglo o restitución. En el caso de mi hogar, ya tiene más de un año que se averió y no ha habido respuesta de parte de la empresa para que vuelva a estar en funcionamiento.
Mi trabajo actual en HIVE se basa en poder contar con un servicio de internet decente y de buen desempeño, que me permita crear contenido y publicar a diario, de una manera constante. Cantv dejó de permitírmelo. Fueron muchas las peripecias que tuve que realizar cuando me quedé sin este vital servicio, en la mayoría de los casos, trabajar desde mi teléfono celular utilizando los datos móviles, lo cual implicaba un gran gasto pues, el costo de los datos móviles es algo caro en mi país.
Throughout our lives, we have always seen the birth of new technologies. Many of them have burst into our lives, to give us well-being and make our existence more prosperous, thus being able to enjoy a better quality of life with our loved ones. The Internet is one of those magical discoveries that undoubtedly changed everyone's life as a whole.
Today, it is the technology that moves the world in all its facets, making us have to admit unanimously and absolutely, that it is essential for many tasks and services that make us move forward.
I live in Venezuela and the current situation regarding internet service in our country is known by many. The Venezuelan State company (Cantv), actually works very poorly in terms of this service.
While it is true that its internet (ABA) in terms of speed and performance, became one of the best in its best times, today it is very devalued and in many homes, it has disappeared, with no hope of repair or restitution. In the case of my home, it has been down for over a year now and there has been no response from the company to get it back up and running.
My current work at HIVE is based on being able to count on a decent internet service with good performance, which allows me to create content and publish daily, in a constant way. Cantv stopped allowing me to do so. There were many vicissitudes I had to go through when I was left without this vital service, in most cases, working from my cell phone using mobile data, which implied a great expense because the cost of mobile data is quite expensive in my country.
En esos momentos me sentí atribulada, más nunca llegué a pensar en dejar de publicar. Estar en HIVE se ha convertido no solo en motivo de sustento para muchas cosas en mi hogar (desde pago de servicios, comida, hasta la Universidad de mi hijo), sino que es una parte esencial de mi ser. Ya no me veo sin escribir, esa es la única realidad.
Por eso tomé la determinación de contratar un nuevo servicio de internet, que me proveyera de la tranquilidad para publicar a diario y poder seguir mi trabajo en la plataforma. Para ello, reuní un tiempo los ingresos de mi trabajo en HIVE y al fin, el pasado mes de agosto, pude materializar este sueño que actualmente me provee de una gran tranquilidad.
Consulté algunos servicios de internet privado en mi zona con varias empresas. Gracias a Dios en esta área del país, existen muchos prestadores de este servicio, ya que, el mal funcionamiento de Cantv, ha fomentado el nacimiento de muchas empresas de internet a nivel local.
Investigué y contacté desde tecnología con fibra óptica (a mi juicio una de las mejores), sin embargo, no llegaban hasta mi zona residencial, motivo por el cual tuve que descartarlas inmediatamente a pesar de haber sido mi primera elección por su efectividad y buen rendimiento.
También busqué servicios satelitales y los que son a través de microondas transmitidas desde antenas matrices. De estas últimas consulté varias y me decidí por una llamada WuiPi. Su tecnología como les dije, es a través de microondas que se transmiten desde antenas emisoras hacia antenas locales en el sitio de instalación, en este caso, mi hogar.
At those times I felt troubled, but I never thought of stopping publishing. Being in HIVE has become not only a reason to support many things in my home (from paying utilities, food, to my son's university), but it is an essential part of my being. I can't see myself without writing, that's the only reality.
That's why I decided to hire a new internet service, which would provide me with the peace of mind to publish daily and to be able to follow my work on the platform. To do so, I gathered the income from my work in HIVE, and finally, last August, I was able to materialize this dream that currently provides me with great peace of mind.
I consulted some private internet services in my area with several companies. Thank God in this area of the country, there are many providers of this service, since the malfunctioning of Cantv, has encouraged the birth of many internet companies locally.
I investigated and contacted fiber optic technology (in my opinion one of the best), however, they did not reach my residential area, which is why I had to discard them immediately, even though they were my first choice due to their effectiveness and good performance.
I also looked for satellite services and those that are through microwaves transmitted from matrix antennas. Of the latter, I consulted several and decided on one called WuiPi. Their technology, as I told you, is through microwaves transmitted from transmitting antennas to local antennas at the installation site, in this case, my home.
Tenían varios planes de navegación a diferentes costos, todos ellos tabulados en dólares, y de navegación ilimitada. En mi caso, escogí el plan más modesto, el que ofrecía 2 Mbps de velocidad. La empresa te asegura un mínimo de 1.4 Mbps en el más bajo de los casos, pero he podido comprobar que siempre está por encima de 1.8 Mbps, y en las horas nocturnas (medianoche y madrugada), inclusive más del límite alto, es decir, ha llegado cerca de los 2.8 Mbps.
Como todas las tecnologías, por supuesto, no son infalibles y hay momentos de interrupción breve de la señal, más que todo cuando hay severas condiciones atmosféricas como lluvias intensas, pero inclusive ha habido casos en que no sucede nada y el servicio permanece normal.
El rendimiento durante estos dos meses de uso ha sido muy bueno y lo más importante, me ha permitido continuar con tranquilidad mi trabajo en HIVE. Por otro lado, es importante acotar que para mí, otra ventaja es el hecho de que tienes a quien acudir en caso de una avería o falla y el servicio de atención técnica y en todas las secciones de la empresa, es extremadamente bueno y son muy atentos los operadores.
La mensualidad que escogí son 16 $ mensuales por 2 Mbps de velocidad. La mayor inversión fue la de la instalación, pues hay que comprar la antena local con el mástil, cables UTP y por supuesto la atención del personal técnico. Todo ello fue un costo de 250 $ más el prorrateo de los días restantes del mes por concepto de mensualidad, ya que la instalación fue hecha faltando una semana para finalizar el mes de agosto. También compré un router marca TP-Link a un costo de 30 $, el cual es el que distribuye la señal en el perímetro de mi hogar.
Al día de hoy me encuentro muy feliz de la decisión que tomé pues me ha permitido obtener tranquilidad para continuar mi trabajo como creadora de contenido. El pago de la mensualidad por supuesto sigue proviniendo de mi trabajo en HIVE, una mejora en la calidad de vida y de trabajo, pienso que es un gran logro proveniente de una buena decisión, una de las mejores que he tomado sin duda alguna.
They had several navigation plans at different costs, all of them tabulated in dollars and unlimited navigation. In my case, I chose the most modest plan, the one offering 2 Mbps speed. The company assures you a minimum of 1.4 Mbps in the lowest of the cases, but I have been able to verify that it is always above 1.8 Mbps, and in the night hours (midnight and early morning), even more than the high limit, that is to say, it has reached close to 2.8 Mbps.
Like all technologies, of course, they are not infallible and there are moments of brief signal interruption, especially when there are severe weather conditions such as heavy rains, but there have even been cases where nothing happens and the service remains normal.
The performance during these two months of use has been very good and most importantly, it has allowed me to continue my work at HIVE with peace of mind. On the other hand, it is important to note that for me, another advantage is the fact that you have someone to turn to in case of a breakdown or failure and the technical support service in all sections of the company is extremely good and the operators are very attentive.
The monthly fee I chose is $16 per month for 2 Mbps speed. The biggest investment was the installation since it is necessary to buy the local antenna with the mast, UTP cables, and of course the attention of the technical staff. All this was a cost of $250 plus the proration of the remaining days of the month for the monthly fee since the installation was done a week before the end of August. I also bought a TP-Link router at $30, which is the one that distributes the signal in the perimeter of my home.
Today I am very happy with the decision I made because it has allowed me to get peace of mind to continue my work as a content creator. The monthly payment of course continues to come from my work in HIVE, an improvement in the quality of life and work, I think it is a great achievement from a good decision, one of the best I have taken without a doubt.
