Unfortunately, these very beautiful colorful birds are quite fearful in our region. And they are not very common. Most often, I see them in early spring and already towards autumn. At these times, they fly in flocks, their calls and chirps are heard.

They feed on insects and seeds. A large number of aphids are destroyed. And closer to autumn, when the thistle ripens, they love to feast on its seeds.
Sometimes these birds can be seen in cities. For example, this year, in spring, they spent several days in my yard. It's funny, very rarely I see them at my feeder. Moreover, the goldfinch is the only bird that is not afraid of larger birds such as pigeons. And I watched as one small goldfinch drove three large pigeons from the feeder.
