Feathered Week

Hello bird lovers,

The week is almost over and my plan for making a post yesterday failed when I fell asleep early. I was knackered at the end of the working week, we have constantly a lot of work in the office and lot of problems challenges. Still I had some photos I made during the week and perhaps I will share some from previous.

What I do is taking the camera out of the bag when I step down from the van and while walking to the office, I look around if something catches my eye and if I am fast enough, I could end up with nice shots.

Here I saw a bird perching on top branch of a shrub where usually I spot greenfinches or goldfinches. My first thought was I got new bird and it could be common linnet. But I have more shots that made me doubt.

Not far from that shrub, two birds which I was sure they were goldfinches, were playing and when I zoomed the image, they are exactly the same as the one from my other photos.

Whenever in doubt, I look for help and advice from the other members of the fb group Birds in Bulgaria. There were two suggestions - juvenile goldfinch or common linnet.
I tend to believe it is a goldfinch.

Yeah, definitely a goldfinch. Some days ago I got an adult posing very nicely.

You see, the juveniles got no red mask yet and just the wings help to correctly identify them.

A couple more shots of this aduld goldfinch.

It is such a beauty, I cannot help myself, but to show one more.

We have a massive heat wave and the temperature is rising above 35°C at noon, so I am not risking to go out at lunch time and prefer to stay in the cool office. But when it is time to go home, I also use the last four-five minutes walking from the office to the van for searching birds. This is how I saw the juvenile wagtail. Not the best photo I am afraid. I was looking up and did not see it on the ground. When I was close, the bird flew and stopped on the tree branch next to me. Up to now I only see the wagtails walking on the ground or perching on top of the pallets outside the warehouse.

And here is another wagtail on top of a pallet.

Because of the heat we changed our routine of walking the dog. Before, hubby with Penny waits for me at the bus stop and we walked the dog in the park and then come back home. Now I go home first and we go a bit later. Let me show you what birds we encounter during these walks.

A juvenile green woodpecker. Each day we hear its sharp and loud call. Sometimes we could not see it, but when we do, it is a great sight.

Next is a pigeon that first caught my attention, because like the seagull in one of my previous posts decided to stop and drink water and secondly its colour is different than the rest of the pigeons.

On that photo the shape of the water is the same like the bird, or is it just my imagination?

And while I mentioned the seagull, here is one looking from the top of a lamp post.

And I am going to finish with some sparrows. An aduld and the teenager still begging for food.
