Feathered Friday in the Sea Garden

At last the long waited holidays! It is Easter for the Orthodox Christians and combined with May Day and weekend, it will make five days in a row. Which is enough for me to take a break from the stressful working days.

It is traditional families to gather to celebrate and they will despite the horrible virus. That is a bit worring as the numbers of infected are still big. Goverment is trying to convince us that we are at the end of the so called third wave, but I am not convinced and I am afraid after the holidays we will have more sick people.

I am still keeping myself away from other people. And the only thing I wish to do during the holiday is to walk alone and photograph birds and anything else I fancy,

So, on Friday the first thing in the morning was to look what the weather was like and even though it appeared a bit cloudy, the forecast was for sunny day with pretty high temperature. This was exactly what I needed and off me went to the city park. I haven't been there for months. Considering the size of it, there are much more birds than in our small local park. Plus the Sea Garden, that is the name of the city par,k stretches along the coast and I was expecting to see birds on the beach or in the water.

The best is to go before the crowds. Many people will be out when it is a holidsy and I prefer not to be bothered and the birds not to be scared.

Now where to start my walk. Well, from somewhere and to follow the sounds of the birds. And they welcomed me with their songs from the very beginning.

The blackbirds had a competition and I stopped to listen to their melodic songs several times. They were numerous and I could reach them close enough. I think the birds in the Sea garden are more used to people. Here is one curious guy.

There is kids corner with attractions for small and big children and a pond with small boats in the middle of it and look who is lurking.

And another.

Three ducks went to swim in the pond but I will save the photos for my reflection post for the Shadow Hunters Community.

Sparrows also were a lot but I haven't paying much attention until something caugth my eye - mating couple.

They were high above on the walnut tree.

They do know how to balance, don't they? ☺

Next i met another curious blackbird, this time a female.

But the real star of the day is the green woodpecker. When I first saw it I was like a child in a candy shop, so happy. Then I have another two encounters and each time the bird was on the ground searching for food, ants being its favourite.

This beauty is male and it was the first time to see a green woody with so vivid colours.

Oh, I made so many photos of these beauty, I could not have enough. The woody was so relaxed, letting me be close for quite some time. I did not only make a photo session, but also watched it for several minutes.

And here is the third place where I saw it again. Same bird, if you look careful, you will notice a small feather on top of the head standing up. ☺

And one last shot, which is my favourite (or better to say one of my favourites) so I put it as cover image of the post.

I spent all morning in the park and I met other birds, but I will leave them for another post. Oh, and squirrels. Would you believe that I photographed squirrels for the first time?

And with this I will end wishing you a great weekenď! Till next time!
