Feathered Friends on the Village Pond

The wood pigeon is quite common but I still think they're funny characters. They look quite biggish birds and I sometimes wonder how they get off the ground.

They are quite noisy when they do take flight. Perhaps they have to put a lot of effort into it!

This grey heron seems to have made its home on a nearby pond.
With their tall, gangly legs, they look funny coming into land.

It was feeding time for the gull as it dive bombed the fish in the pond.

How does the nursery rhyme go when you spot a magpie?

One for sorrow,
Two for joy,
Three for a girl,
Four for a boy, etc

Thankfully, it didn’t leave me sorrowful!
