War, in popular sense, is a conflict between two sides. Peace, on the other hand, is alll about harmony and tranquility. War brings catastrpp[e and disrupts all spheres of life. However, peace builds, strengthens and restores the upheaval caused by war. Both are exact oppositees of each other.
War is an evil. It is a catastrophe that brings death, destruction, disease and strarvation. Not so many years ago, millions died in the World wars. This portrays the gruesome image of war and its ability to bring destruction. War leaves its implications on all domains for its its destructive nature.
Difference of opinion, perspectives, policies and ideologies give rise to conflict. Spread of the ideology of communism in Russia became a bone of contention for Europe. The countries in recent times have assembled in blocs of their interests, thus Wars have a global approach now, engulfing the entire world now.

Machiavelli, in his book 'The Prince' writes that Peace is an interval between two wars. Peace remains a goal of introspective people around the world. It ensures that things run smoothly. Peace requires elimination of war and peace maintenance of harmony.
Poets and thinkers thinkers have created a Utopian world in which there is no concept of war. A sad fact is that the little peace observed is because most of the countries are armed with nuclear or hydrogen bombs. Instead of promoting peaceful notions world powers are indulged in developing weapons of mass destruction that too with an excuse of self-defense.

There is a dire need to promote peace because even a slightest spark could give rise to a global war. The day power of love overrules the love of power, the world will know peace. Mankind need to put war to an end and accept the fact that peace can nit be maintained by force. Peace can be prevailed by developing a sense of mutual understanding. As Mahatma Gandhi had said 'An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind'
