Independence day, Is Nigeria worth celebrating

Hello Hive

We had this circular going round on WhatsApp yesterday in this manner

Good day my People
How una dey?
I believe Nigeria will be 61 by October 1st.
And 60 is the retirement age.
can we retire Nigeria and start afresh?
Please what do you think? ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

This should be no joke at all, if its possible to rebirth this country, you might want to read about some of the predicament we face.

How can you think about a country and the first things that come to mind is how to run for your lives (insecurity) how to get the next meal on your table (hunger and poverty) how to compete for a career (unemployment) and these are for the record the major problems now while list goes on and on

What good is there to celebrate and be happy for when we have categories of these people called in various names (bandits, fulani-gun-men, ritualist, even the unknown gun-men and terrorist) surrounding us.

Everyday someone is been unjustly killed out there, its a norm and not a new anymore.

Even the government and security people gang up to kill its people, Soldiers spraying bullets at protesters during the End SARS protest

And the endless list of wasting lives continue.

Moving on to poverty and hunger my government decided a minimum wage of $72.9 ( 30,000 Nigerian naira) for its citizens while an average cost of monthly living in Nigeria for a family of four is around 1,583$ (648,706โ‚ฆ) without provision for rent or housing. A single person is expected to spend at least 437$ (179,133โ‚ฆ)

So is our salary a token or just stipend to buy beer.

And Now that the naira is crashing against dollar a rep is proposing to close all Nigerians domiciliary accounts

  • I am not the CBN Governor but at this moment, Im of the opinion that CBN should mandate that all dorm accounts be closed for the next 12 months. Letโ€™s see the effect on the Naira. After all you canโ€™t go to any of the Western world and open a foreign currency account. Your opinion-Ibrahim B Obanikoro

How will that help.

Okay

May be a series of blacklish from the public made him rephrase that statement saying that he only needed to spark peoples opinion on what to do and from the series of comment he was able to gather some intelligence from the people.

Wait are we suppose to do the thinking for them?

Should we talk about unemployment.

This is becoming less of a problems since we all go to school read whatever course they give us. (universities changed our career not given you the course we want to read but what they feel is right for us) what ever they put before us and graduate to find our way in life.

We acquire the knowledge and skill to become entrepreneurs and least we can help ourselves that way.

Am not quite a history person or familiar with the background of this country and may have written only the Negative things there is to talk about

You can help me out by adding the positive ones and let's find some good reason to celebrate Nigeria at 61.

  • Nevertheless I love the culture language and other diversity amongst us.
While it is worthy to note that we have some brainy people here as well

For a record Nigeria has more than 4000 doctors in the US and 5000 in the UK alone, these are people who ought to handle the medical and health issues of the country but because of various conditions we have mass migration of doctors and nurses who go out to find better opportunities.

Everyone is looking for an opportunity to get out of this place.

Happy Independence day Nigeria.

  • Shout out to the fallen hero's and those we have lost in the battle trying to keep us at peace.

  • Shout out to the End SARS protesters who lost their lives working to stop police harassment and other crimes.

  • Shout out to our brothers and sisters who have been kidnapped and killed by inhuman gunmen and ritualist.

  • Shout out to everyone still holding on and praying for a new Nigeria.
