My interest in blockchain gaming started last month when I was exploring around and discovered it, I had already heard about it before joining hive but I didn’t pay attention to it. After discovering it, I decided then to sign up for Splinterland just to see how it was but ran away because I felt like it was a bit too complicated.
MY PROCESS OF LEARNING
During the hivenaija meeting on Sunday, the 3rd of October my interest was peaked once again when @nonsowrites and @badmusgreene spoke about it and immediately I decided to send a message to @badmusgreene asking if he could tutor me on what to do and how to start.
Now if I start singing the praises of Badmus, we wouldn’t be leaving here anytime soon so let’s move on. He immediately agreed to teach me and set a time for a class on discord and there my official journey began.
Our first class was on Dcrop and Splinterland, he first started the class by telling me to download the kiwi browser and to install the hive keychain extension as it would make it easier for me to game, and after that, he began teaching me about the process of swapping hive to swap.hive, how to buy the DCALPHA token, and how to get packs with the token on Dcrop. He explained how Dcrop worked to the simplest detail and after I planted my first set of crops we finally decided to move to Splinterland where he advised me to get a spellbook and aided me in the processing of getting one.
Each task he asked me to do was backed by a screenshot which was for accountability purposes (showing that I was actually doing it and doing it right) and this helped me in understanding things easier and quicker.
We decided to end our class for the day and scheduled another for the next day which started with a class on rising star, he taught me how to navigate the game, on buying a pack, and the basis of rising star. By the day I would be posting this, I would have already learned about Rabona because that is the last game we would be touching.
WHAT I HAVE REALIZED LEARNING ABOUT BLOCKCHAIN GAMING
I have learned a lot in just three days and I have realized how important guidance is when diving into something new, just like having @bhoa guide me here on hive, having @badmusgreene made a big difference in blockchain gaming because he went as far as answering even the silliest questions I had.
I also learned that whatever you put your heart to is achievable because where I am right now isn’t where I was three days ago even though I am far from where I want to be.
WHAT HAVE I ACHIEVED CONCERNING BLOCKCHAIN GAMING
• I have gained knowledge not just about blockchain games but about hive engine and other tokens in the process.
• I have also acquired packs in Dcrop, rising star, a spellbook in Splinterland, and a few sps tokens.
• I have planted a few crops on Dcrop and also gotten (as of now) 400 starbits on rising star.
IN CONCLUSION
I have been enjoying playing rising star a lot and I love the simplicity of it, and I already know I would love Rabona because of my love for football and fantasy premier league. I am also still awaiting harvest from Dcrop which would come in a few days and I am reading more about Splinterland because it still feels complicated to me even though I understand the basis of it.
I am so glad I had the privilege of being taught because I know not everyone had that and I know as usual even though I have a lot to learn, I would do great with dedication and consistency.
