My Hive Community Leader Application

The Nigerian Hive community is on a steady growth path. Every day, more people from the country find their way into the Hive, and the hope of the Hive Naija community has always been to make life easier for our members.

The community was created in February pre-hardfork, but after the fork, was rebranded to focus solely on Hive. Our main goal has always been to be an easy avenue for Nigerians, in particular, to find a haven in the community and be a place where we could all gather together to discuss the peculiarities of our society.

However, we're also an all-encompassing community that embraces anyone interested in being a part of us, and we support authors/content creators as much as possible, so long as it is original content.

The community has seen growth in the few months that it existed, with 70 subscribers and hopefully a lot more to come. Despite having few members at the moment, the leadership of the community is split into 4 individuals to ensure that we have enough hands on deck to cater for Nigerians. With a population of over 200 million as a country, we have the ambition to see at least one million users creating Nigerian based content.

As earlier mentioned, our community is focused on attracting the masses from Nigeria and Beyond to Hive, while also trying to showcase the talent, and beauty of Nigeria. To achieve this, the community's leadership is democratic but also has four individuals that have shown their dedication to the growth of Hive community as a whole in @belemo, @mistakili, @nonsowrites, and @gentleshaid that represent the leadership. Here are a few words from the community leaders

I've been a part of the community since December 2017, and have good standing in the Nigerian, as well as Hive community. My passion for the growth of the community at large led me to create the Nigerian Hive community way back in February, although back then it was for Steem. Ever since the switch to Hive, I moved all my activities, as well as the communities activities to Hive.

After creating the community, the next step was getting the word out there, and encouraging people to join, as well as post in the community. To achieve that, I follow the #nigeria tag and encourage authors that use the tag, both in and out of the community by upvoting or tipping through the @hive-naija account and mine.

We're still a growing community with 70 subscribers and counting, but all that wouldn't have been possible without support from other individuals who saw the potential of the project and had similar drive. I received massive support from

@nonsowrites

My idea of a healthy community is one that is goal-oriented and has a physical presence. I believe blockchain has the potential of impacting our everyday life, so why don't we start now?

Meet-ups

One way to consolidate the relationships on-chain is to have physical gatherings of like-minded persons who share similar goals. Meetups where once a thing on our sister chain and I am hoping it becomes part of the hive culture (after the pandemic of course). The Nigeria community will push for quarterly meetups where crypto enthusiast (hivians) gather to network, have a good time and also discuss ideas and ways to create awareness for the blockchain. Also partnering with projects/campaigns to bring about awareness of these projects and of course hive.

I strongly believe in the power of meet-up and real-life campaigns that can impact the lives of Nigerians at large and bring to their awareness the potential of blockchain

I joined hive (steem) in November 2017 and since then, I have onboarded several users, some of which have become veterans in authoring contents on this platform. I established stemng community server on discord which is a Nigerian sub-community of stemsocial (steemstem). I coordinated meetup for the community in July 2018. I started serving as a curator for stemsocial in late 2017, barely a month after I joined the hive blockchain. I do not only onboard users, I have a weekly mentorship show in promo mentor discord server where I tutor newbies on how to make acceptable contents for the community and navigate the blockchain in general.

Hive Community Leaders initiative is a voluntary group of HIVE users that forms a worldwide network that rewards and supports voluntaryists who are actively promoting and growing the HIVE community, as well as supporting those who are helping to build the ecosystem in their respective countries.

I believe this defines what I already do and have been doing for almost or over two years beginning from the Steem platform. I’m very passionate about the immense potential of this technology. It's like a hot secret I can’t keep to myself. I try to make use of every opportunity I’m presented to not just brag about Hive, but also educate, and inform people both inside and outside of the potential.

This is a thumbnail I recently commissioned intending to use to intensify my Splinterlands PR campaign and brand, just as a player and fan.

I believe that the leadership of such a big community requires as many dedicated hands as possible and this is what prompted my decision to make this joint application with @belemo, @nonsowrites and @gentleshaid.

I've always felt like we all have a collective responsibility to grow the platform; so a win for one is a win for all. This is one thing that fuels my drive for the growth of this community. One of the most tangible metrics to evaluate growth is through the number of people and activity we have around the area. In that respect, I do the most to tell people about the platform and have successfully recruited a number of people, including @bliss11, @adeyemidrey, @enison1, and @trillex, amongst others.
