When a connecting rod damages an engine block

The bent connecting rod

This is a picture of a 2.0 engine.DOHC ("double overhead camshaft") is a type of internal combustion engine that uses two camshafts, located in the cylinder head, to operate the engine's exhaust and intake valves.

Today I'm going to tell you about the connecting rod that bent and how it damaged the engine block.

The connecting rod bent and split the bolts, the shell and that caused the block to split

Why did this happen?. The car started with a strange noise like it was sticking metal to metal. We decided to take the car out to do some shopping, since at that time there was not much public transportation. We started the car and when I moved it a little the engine stopped, made a loud sound and turned off. As best we could we moved it to the stall again. We checked the car. Apparently nothing was visible. It was decided that the engine had to be lowered. When we removed the water pipe where the thermostat and radiator hose are located, we observed the block on the side of the connecting rod number one (1) was perforated. A hole of six (6) centimeters in diameter was made, there was the head of the destroyed connecting rod, the one that goes towards the crankshaft. And it was the one that broke the block. Now we have to buy an engine, because the hole is big. They say that it can be repaired, that there are experts who can repair the engine by welding. But we first thought that this must have a high cost, and if you get the engine, it would be the best, the strange thing that was observed is that the car never stopped lubricating, it could be one of the first causes that the person would think, what was observed was a very noticeable difference in the depth in the thread of the screws that tighten the head of the connecting rod, it gives the impression that one of the screws was loose, because if it had been torqued with the recommended pounds, such a difference would not have been detected, it was loose, because the other three remaining connecting rods if they had their pressure and one or two more screws were not given so much pressure to loosen them.
A serious suggestion, for the car if you hear strange sounds and if possible take a mechanic to the house. If you can do it yourselves better and then you will be sure of what is going on.

Hola, familia @hive.
