My experience with mechanics is something that's limited only to the earthly, even although most of the time I limited myself to be a mechanic's helper designated this is one of the things that has allowed me to know most of the tools, obviously, how could it not be thanks to the typical, "Pass me the 12 dies", "Pass me the spade screwdriver", "Pass me the wrench" and stop counting an infinite number of tools.
Realmente mi experiencia con la mecánica es algo que se limita solamente a lo terrenal, sin embargo a pesar de que en la mayoría del tiempo me limité a ser ayudante del mecánico designado esto es una de las cosas que me ha permitido conocer en su mayoría las herramientas, obviamente cómo no podría ser gracias al típico, “Pásame el dado 12”, “Pásame el destornillador de pala”, “Pásame la llave inglesa” y pare de contar infinidades de herramientas.
This has helped me to differentiate everyone, as is to be expected the typical thing is that a person will say that they are all important and there is no one or the other better, of course, this is true until we get to a real point. Let's be honest, it's like saying that we have no preference for a cousin in the family and that we love them all equally, it makes no sense because we always end up getting attached to one or another, the same thing happens in the subject of tools in mechanics.
Esto me ha ayudado a diferenciar todas y cada una, como es de esperar lo típico es que una persona diga que todas son importantes y no existe ni una ni otra mejor, claro, esto es cierto hasta que llegamos a un punto real. Seamos sinceros, es como decir que no tenemos preferencia por algún primo de la familia y que quieres a todos por igual, no tiene sentido, ya que siempre terminamos encariñándonos con uno u otro, lo mismo sucede en el tema de las herramientas en la mecánica.

En esta ocasión hablando de ellas les vengo a traer como vieron en el título la cual yo creo que ha sido mi “todo en uno” y la que me ha sacado de más y un apuro en cualquier ámbito no solamente en la mecánica, ¡La llave ajustable!.
Well, I won't go into details because its name explains it very well, the adjustable wrench is a tool that allows us to screw anything, its main attraction comes from the fact that in many cases the nuts are made to measure and this causes that among so many tools is a problem to find the exact one that fits the piece we have.
Bien, no caeré en detalles porque su nombre lo explica muy bien, la llave ajustable es una herramienta que nos permite enroscar cualquier cosa, su mayor atractivo proviene de que en muchas ocasiones las tuercas son hechas muy a medida y esto causa de que entre tantas llaves sea un problema encontrar la llave exacta que se ajuste a la pieza que tenemos.
As a curious anecdote, I call it "all in one" because whenever there were nuts and I was asked for a specific wrench I always passed the wrench, it was my all-in-one that saved me the time to search in the sea of tools in the box. Besides using it for other tasks as I will tell you later.
Como anécdota curiosa la llamo “todo en uno” porque siempre que habían tuercas y me pedían una llave específica siempre pasaba la llave inglesa, era mi todo en uno que me ahorraba el tiempo de buscar en el mar de herramientas de la caja. Además de usarla en otras tareas como les contaré más adelante.
Well, it is no surprise to anyone my adventures (not so good) with the cars that I have been able to bring along my life in this community, from air filters that turned off the car, loose brakes while on the road and even overheating that has made me have a very bad time. This time I had something similar but to a much lesser extent than I was able to solve thanks to my friend the wrench.
It's not a big deal, but one day going to the supermarket to do the basic shopping and coming out of it I proceed to leave everything in the passenger seat and get ready to start on the way home. Everything is going well, the car was not with any failure and even with the key in accessories, I could hear the fuel pump running and the dashboard light up as usual. To my surprise the car wouldn't start, it didn't do anything, it was around 4 pm and the sun was super high and I just wanted to die at that moment.
What a hateful feeling to have to lift the hood and know that you are in an accident, although this time I was in a parking lot. It caught my attention that the pump was working and I tried to start the engine again but to my surprise nothing started, the obvious failure that it was the battery doing its thing but what caught my attention was that... The battery was new! It was defective?, the alternator failed? The truth is I was just wondering why I didn't ride my bike lol.
I had a box of tools in the suitcase, I had made I had a toolbox in the case, had cranked 4 times, and no live results. I proceeded to think it was some clamp failing, the problem is they were too tight to move with my hands so the only salvation was a wrench from the box. I proceeded to untighten them, clean them with a small terminal cleaner and remove all residue from them, honestly I did not expect much from this and I was already asking for a crane but... It fired!
Bueno, para nadie es sorpresa mis aventuras (no tan buenas) con los carros que he podido traer a lo largo de mi vida hecha en esta comunidad, desde filtros de aires que me apagaban el carro, frenos sueltos estando en plena vía y hasta recalentamientos que han hecho pasar un muy mal rato. En esta ocasión tuve algo similar pero en mucha menor medida que pude resolver gracias ella.
No es la gran cosa, pero un día yendo al supermercado a hacer las compras básicas saliendo del mismo procedo a dejar todo en el asiento del copiloto y me preparo para arrancar camino a la casa. Todo marcha bien, el carro no estaba con ningún fallo e incluso pasada la llave en accesorios pude escuchar la bomba de gasolina funcionar y el salpicadero encender como es de costumbre. Para mi sorpresa el carro no daba arranque, no hacía nada, eran alrededor de las 4 pm y yo solo quería morirme en ese momento.
Que odiosa sensación de tener que levantar el capó y saber que estás accidentado, aunque esta vez me encontraba en un estacionamiento. Evidentemente me llamaba la atención de que la bomba accionaba e intenté dar arranque otra vez pero para mi sorpresa ya nada prendía, lo normal es pensar que era la batería pero lo que me llamaba la atención de todo esto era que… ¡La batería era nueva! La verdad es que solo me preguntaba porque no me fui en bicicleta lol.
Tenía una caja de herramientas en la maleta, había hecho arranque 4 veces y ningún resultado de vida. Procedí a pensar que era algún borne fallando, el problema es que estaban muy ajustados para moverlos con las manos así que la única salvación era una llave inglesa de la caja. Procedí a desajustarlos, limpiarlos con un pequeño limpiador de bornes y quitar todo residuo de ellos, sinceramente no esperaba mucho de esto y ya me veía pidiendo una grúa pero… ¡Encendió!

Al final son esos residuos que se forman y no dejaban que los bornes hicieran buen contacto, sobre todo el positivo que es el que iba directo al arranque y lo alimentaba en esa carga pesada que es arrancar el vehículo. Al final se pudo decir que la llave inglesa es la que me salvo de estar pidiendo una grúa.
I also find it useful for household things, changing gas cylinders, air maintenance, and many other things, that's why I say it's my favorite tool. Adaptability is its main strength, I love tools that are versatile and not limited to only being able to unscrew a specific size of the nut.
También me suele ser de utilidad en cosas del hogar, cambio de bombonas, mantenimientos de aires y para muchísimas cosas más, por eso digo que es mi herramienta favorita. La adaptación es su principal fuerte, amo las herramientas que son versátiles y no se limitan a solo poder desenroscar un tamaño específico de tuerca.
