El día de hoy sucedió algo muy curioso en mi casa. Cómo todos los sábados, bajé al centro a realizar las compras de la semana. Hoy baje un poco tarde porque me trasnoche así que vine llegando a casa como a eso de las 12:30 pm.
[eng]Today something very curious happened at my house. Like every Saturday, I went downtown to do my weekly shopping. Today I went down a little late because I had a late night so I came home around 12:30 pm.
Luego de llegar me cambié y repose para echarme un baño. Mientras lo hacía estaba revisando mis redes sociales. De repente oigo revuelo en el patio de la casa, algo a lo que no le presté mucha tensión. Escuchaba como si algo estuviera rasgando el suelo y sonaban ciertos potes de plásticos que tenemos afuera. Se lo atribuía a una gata que dió a luz a cuatro crías hace poco. Pensé que estaba jugando.
[eng]After arriving I changed and rested to take a bath. While I was doing that I was checking my social networks. Suddenly I heard some commotion in the backyard, something I didn't pay much attention to. It sounded like something was tearing up the ground and certain plastic pots we have outside were rattling. I attributed it to a cat that gave birth to four kittens recently. I thought she was playing.
No me equivoqué, si era Manchita (la gata); pero no estaba jugando... Al rato mi sobrina sale al patio a sacar unas cosas y exlama "¡AY!", seguido de un golpe. Al escuchar eso me levanto veo que la gata y mi sobrina están paradas frente a un cien pies.
[eng]I was not mistaken, it was Manchita (the cat); but she was not playing.... After a while my niece goes out to the yard to take some things out and exclaims "Ouch!", followed by a thump. When I hear that, I get up and see that the cat and my niece are standing in front of a hundred feet.
La niña me dijo que estaba tirando de agredir al insecto ya que iba camino a una nevera vieja que tenemos en el patio donde se encontraban los hijos de Manchita.
[eng]The little girl told me she was pulling to assault the insect as it was on its way to an old cooler we have in the yard where Manchita's children were staying.
Mi sobrina terminó de matarlo aplastándola lo que yo supongo fue la cabeza con un palo de escoba. Ambas se veían asustadas, especialmente mi sobrina que es la que podía demostrar más el miedo. Los gatos pequeños estaban maullando muy seguido, a lo mejor también estaban nerviosos.
[eng]My niece finished killing it by crushing what I guess was its head with a broomstick. They both looked scared, especially my niece who could show the most fear. The little cats were meowing very often, maybe they were nervous too.
Es increíble como el instinto materno en los animales es igual que en los humanos y me atrevo a decir que en ocasiones es mayor. La protección a sus crías se vuelve en algo fundamental para estás criaturas que muchas personas las venden son alma.
[eng]It is incredible how the maternal instinct in animals is the same as in humans and I dare to say that sometimes it is greater. The protection of their offspring becomes something fundamental for these creatures that many people sell them as souls.
En muchos aspectos debemos aprender sobre los animales porque en varias ocasiones suelen dar la buenas lecciones. También quiero decir que en estos tiempos de lluvia debemos estar muy pendientes con este tipo de insectos. A pesar que no son mortales siempre y cuando no se sea alérgico a su picada, suelen dar fiebre fuerte y un dolor bastante notable.
[eng]In many aspects we must learn about animals because in several occasions they usually give good lessons. I also want to say that in these rainy times we must be very careful with this type of insects. Although they are not deadly as long as you are not allergic to their bites, they usually cause high fever and quite noticeable pain.
Luego de muerto me puse a apreciarlo, la ergonomía de su cuerpo, los colores y la verdad es que el cien pies es un animal bastante raro y bonito. Ese juego de color caoba con naranja y amarillo lo hacen bastante llamativo. Sus conglomerados de patas y lo largo de su torso lo convierten en una simbiosis de atractivo con tétrico.
[eng]After death I started to appreciate it, the ergonomics of its body, the colors and the truth is that the hundred feet is quite a rare and beautiful animal. That game of mahogany color with orange and yellow make it quite striking. Its conglomerates of legs and the length of its torso make it a symbiosis of attractive and creepy.
