Chersonnesia rahria (Maplet) in Sumatra

I recently discovered a brilliant orange butterfly. This photo was taken by me in a local forest area, in the hinterland of North Aceh.

It perched on my scooter and it looked like a tame butterfly. I think Chersonnesia rahria is the binomial name of this butterfly species. It is a species of butterfly belonging to the Nymphalidae family.

The butterfly is brilliant orange, with striped patterns on the upper sides of the wings, and has pale green compound eyes.

This species is often found in Southeast Asia and Eastern India.
