Welcome to Unimatrix 525

In Borg culture a unimatrix is more like an artificially constructed family. I do like the "bee keeper" theme of Hive. But sometimes I also like the "borg" theme.

The purpose of this community is to collaborate on Hive support projects, tools, and strategies. Not just development of these projects but also for feedback and logistics.

As stated recently by @hiveio:

Not all development is core development.

Developers can be a catch-all term for any people who write code. There are developers who work on front end interfaces, back end structures and databases, mobile app specialists, website designers, software engineers, and even people who are learning about how to run blockchain nodes and write scripts... developers are everywhere!

They go on to talk about many development aspects that are considered core. I see Unimatrix 525 as straddling the line of both core and non-core development, even straddling development and non-development, with different levels of technical focus.

Unimatrix 525 as the Spiritual Successor to SteemWorks

I see this community as the spiritual successor to SteemWorks, but much more inclusive. SteemWorks was made up of about five people at Steemit, Inc. Its purpose was to support the blockchain with documentation, developer outreach, and auxiliary projects aimed at supporting development, testing and testnet tools.

Beyond this, I envision Unimatrix 525 taking this further into a think-tank as well, such that the greater community can contribute.

What would the non-developers contribute?

At first, the non-developer arm of the community would most likely contribute to QA (quality assurance). That's a form of testing that only requires people to make reports on bugs they encounter in the user interface.

Also, not everyone who does QA is necessarily equipped to create issues in the repository. Often it's hard to even determine which repository is the appropriate one to post issues. I can see this being a multi-tier role where people perform tests and report back to a community and people who can create issues then review these reports for more details.

But it doesn't have to be isolated to QA. This unimatrix can fan out to other areas, even gorilla marketing (assimilation).

What kinds of support projects?

Personally, I'm equipped to reach application developers at various levels. But I find it extremely useful to get feedback from non-developers as well. Sometimes developers get myopic in the technical aspects of their efforts. In a sense, we don't always see the forrest because of all of those pesky trees that are in the way.

Skeptics Welcome

There's this notion that you have to be a True Believer of a particular technology in order to be taken seriously. But not everyone buys the entire pitch. You're still welcome. In fact, skeptics are a healthy aspect of critical thinking to help avoid the echo chamber.

But does that break the "Borg Theme?" I don't think so. I think the borg would approve of healthy dissent if it moves us in the direction of perfection.

Just ask Seven of Nine, Tertiary Adjunct of Unimatrix 01:

Is there a Unimatrix 01?

If you want to set that up, go right ahead. I picked 525 because it's just an arbitrary number and Hive is (or hopefully will be) a vast decentralized community. In fact, I welcome a Unimatrix 01, if you'd be so bold as to set one up. There can literally be 1,000s of these kinds of communities. Also, Unimatrix 525 was mentioned in Star Trek Voyager but it's not really expanded upon beyond the name.

Think of this as an experiment wrapped in an experiment shrouded in experiment.
