After a good night’s rest, we were out again exploring the territory. We were staying at Thiruvalluvar Nagar and were looking for a breakfast spot close by. That’s when we got to this little stall serving hot porrotas with chicken curry. I cannot express how tantalizing the aroma was. The signboard was in Tamil and nobody at the place spoke a language we could converse in. So none of us still know what this sign reads haha.

We had some fresh porrotas with chicken curry, omelette and kebabs which wasn’t a typical breakfast we would have otherwise. But we just couldn’t hold ourselves back. A plate of 2 porrotas with chicken curry costed just Rs.40 (0.55 USD), omelette was Rs.15 (0.21 USD) and chicken kebab was Rs.25 (0.34 USD) per piece.

After a filling breakfast, we were off to Auroville to visit the beautiful Matrimandir. The Matrimandir is a geodesic dome made of stainless steel and plated with gold. This beautiful structure reflects sunlight which makes the monument appear lustrous. Matrimandir means “Mother’s Shrine” and is a center promoting internal wellness and the art of yoga. This place is open to visitors on all days except Tuesdays and to our misfortune, it was a Tuesday we went to visit it.

It was noon already and the next place on the list was the PY Café. This one is located in Heritage Town and is popular for its pink and teal color coded interior. It sure is one of the prettiest cafes I have ever been to.

They serve great Italian and Mediterranean food. The service here was up to the mark. They serve alcohol too but only on weekends. The quality of food served here is truly commendable. I specially loved the Pork steak served. It was grilled to perfection and was extremely soft & delicious.
Here’s all we tried –
Mediterranean Platter – Rs.220 (3.02 USD)
Calamari Rings – Rs.250 (3.43 USD)
Pork Tenderloin – Off-menu
Summer Cooler-Rs.120 (1.64 USD)
Iced Masala Chai – Rs.110 (1.51 USD)
Sweet Orange, Carrot & Ginger -Rs.150 (2.06 USD)
Mint Lime -Rs.110 (1.51 USD)

The staff was very friendly. We also met Jacqueline Kapur, the lady who owns and runs this place. She was nice enough to suggest us their best dishes.
The bartender was nice enough to make us a special non-alcoholic drink.

They had a stack of Mason & Co. chocolate bars on sale at the counter. There were pastries and other baked goodies available. Took a random picture of the chocolate.
