Some of you may remember from my post from yesterday that I wanted chicken katsu and in my dream I never got any. Well guess what? I managed to get my katsu yesterday and it came in a platter with sushi. I was very happy!
Kokoro Sushi Katsu Combi
A small mixed platter of sushi and chicken katsu.
As soon as I saw this, I knew this is what I wanted. It was different to the chicken katsu salad I had a couple of years ago. I had never seen one with sushi before. The platter came with soy sauce, wasabi and pickled ginger too. The sushi roll and the salmon sushi was so fresh and I loved the texture of the sticky rice. I did prefer the sushi roll as it had a lot more flavour than the salmon one. That was a tiny bit bland and it really needed the side condiments. The chicken katsu was so good! I loved the flavour of it. It had a lovely crunchy coating and the seasoning was just so fresh. I really enjoyed the Japanese mayo on top. To me this didn’t need any condiments as it was full of flavour on it’s own. I was really glad I managed to get this for my dinner.
A bit pricy, but it was worth the money. It was so fresh and tasty. I’ve only started to get into Japanese food and this was delicious and it really did fill me up. I’m struggling with using chopsticks though. I did manage to go through my whole meal without cutlery which I am very proud of. I struggled, but I pushed on. Hopefully one day I can use them like a pro! Definitely will go back to Kokoro to buy something else.
