My friend was telling me yesterday how she really indulged herself with food and finished off the day with some Chocolate Pop Tarts. Then that make me think it’s been years since I had a Pop Tart and I really fancied some. I really like the Strawberry ones, so I sent my husband out to get me some yesterday.

Strawberry and Apple Fruit Filling in a Frosted Pastry.

I love the way these come wrapped in a silver foil wrapper in pairs. I unwrapped them and put the Pop Tarts in my toaster and I was waiting patiently until they popped out. They were very hot to the touch. I almost burned my fingers! That brought back memories about being hot to touch before. I waited a while for them to cool a little before I tucked in. I love the frosting on top with the tiny coloured sprinkles. I could smell the sweetness of the frosting start to waft up my nose. Now it was time! I picked up my first Pop Tart and nibble all round the edges where the pastry didn’t have any frosting. The pastry was crumbly and it actually had a sweet and salty taste. I could definitely taste the salt. This didn’t bother me as I like sweet and salty flavours. Then I got to the centre. The jam was fruity, but I didn’t realise it was flavoured with strawberry and apple. Now I think about the flavour, it wasn’t very fruity of strawberry. I can see where the flavour has been diluted by the apple. I feel a bit short changed now as these are sold as strawberry not strawberry and apple!

These Pop Tarts were nice and I still like them, but it did make me a feel a bit miffed that these were not 100% strawberry flavoured. I did like the frosting with the pastry and the fruit. I did have to eat them slowly or I could have easily finished two in a few mouthfuls. It was nice eating them slowly as when I finished the second one, I felt pleasantly full and I didn’t want anything else to eat afterwards.
