DEFCON29 LOCKED AND LOADED

Thy opened pre-registration just a coupla hours ago, so if you want to go, get your ass over to:
https://shop.defcon.org/

I'm good-to-go on all three biggies

  • in-person badge $300 - bought an hour or two ago
  • flight - $190.03 round way on Spirit Airlines = paid
  • hotel - $726.68 at the Ellis Island Hotel - booked and confirmed
  • call for papers - just finished submitting - I'll post some of it downpage

I'm getting there a coupla days early, and leaving a coupla days late. I dont intend on drinking or gambling a lot, maybe *a little *LOL. So far, I'm "up" by $450 in expected expenses, so that might go to the casinos.

I apologize to everybody for the begging I did in

What would you want from me in return for crowdfunding my DEFCON trip?

and
DefCon 29 Plans Rolling Along

It doesn't occur to me when I do these things that they might be a bit on the awkward and/or anti-social side.

I do plead three things, tho

  • I AM anti-social, for the most part
  • I did other some means of paying the investment off.
  • I m still in a lot of pain with this arm. I'll see an ortho guy in June, and a neurologist some time as yet unknown. My writing is better, though I have small time windows to use it. Hell, between yesterday and today, I knocked out a discussion for school, the defcon submittal, and this post...all with just one hand!

The submittal

ABSTRACT
The resistance movements as seen in the Yellow Vests in France, and the democracy protesters in Hong Kong, demonstrate that the human spirit has not yet been smothered by globalism and Big Brother. The goal of this presentation is to provide a basic understanding of the intelligence cycle, and how it can be used to support resistance, in particular those movements that are decentralized, or grass roots, in nature. Beginning with an overview of full-spectrum war (4th gen war, asymmetric war, etc.), moving to a discussion of intelligence as a critical thinking tool, the presentation will focus on a dissection of the intelligence cycle. From this dissection, the cycle will be “rebuilt” in terms useful to smaller groups and individuals for creating their own roles in supporting resistance movements by leveraging their technological and social engineering skills. The presentation is intended primarily for n audience that is unfamiliar with the use of intelligence.

DETAILED OUTLINE *unformatted coz I bragged a bit too early about my fitness to write):
Introduce myself (1 minute)
What is intelligence? (1 minute)

definition and purpose of intelligence
Full spectrum war (2 minutes)
a continuum from peace to total war
resistance movements and where they fall on continuum
“one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter”
The intelligence cycle as part of the intelligence process (4 minutes)
the ability to use the process is not common (similar to hacking)
counterintelligence
the process is just a tool; can be used for good or bad...but you can be assured it will be used against you.
multiple disciplines of intelligence – OSINT, SIGINT, HUMINT, FININT, SOCMINT, etc
multiple tools for intelligence, software and models – SNA,GIS, Zotero, MICE
finding right tool for job
Dissecting the cycle (5 minutes)
4, 5, 6 stage models
it is just a model; it’s not written in stone
direction, collection, analysis, dissemination
what they are and how they relate to each other
each step does not always lead to the next
Rebuild the cycle for your purposes (3 minutes)
how are you going to support the movement?
do you need to direct and disseminate when your audience is you?
what is your dissemination method for a decentralized audience
you may be filling multiple roles, as a unique skill-holder (including roles outside intel)
Sample roles (3 minutes, OR 2 minutes + audience brainstorming 1 minute)
drone operator, OPSEC coordinator, numbers station, honey badger
Conclusion and Resources (1 minute)
Outline note – the audience participation is a time buffer if I speak too fast, or too slow

Annnnnd I'm wiped out

I'll post more tomorrow, b/x they are still taking vendor apps, and somebody here might find useful

gnite!

I was thinking 'bout my baby and letting her rip
