Today I wanted to take a look back at the 1995 movie "waterworld" starring Kevin Costner. Set in a post apocalyptic world where the polar ice caps have melted and the world is covered in water.
Thinking this sounds a bit like Mad max on water?? yeah its kinda similar that's for sure, but its a solid movie that's well worth a watch, the sets are pretty incredible and its easy to see why this movie was so expensive to make!
At the time this movie was the most expensive movie ever made! it flopped at the box office but did eventually become profitable due to home video sales, but only just!
Some of the acting is a bit "pantomime" in places, but for me personally this is a very enjoyable movie and one of these great older movies that isn't totally reliant on CGI, those crazy water towns were actually made! that is what's cool to me.
