Chapter 90: You’re Not Going Anywhere

The next morning. Yassmay and Yassme had packed their bags and were about to leave for the train station. Pardi was also awake. He approached the twins in the hall as they were walking towards the front door.

‘Where do you think you’re going?’ asked Pardi.

‘We thought it would be nice to go on holiday,’ said Yassmay.

‘A holiday would be great,’ said Pardi. ‘Sadly, now isn’t the right time. I have a lot of work to do, but the bulk of it is ending soon. Then, I will take you anywhere you want.’

‘It’s a holiday for just the two of us,’ said Yassme.

‘You are underage. You can’t travel alone,’ said Pardi firmly.

The twins looked at each other. Yassmay grabbed Yassme’s hand. ‘Gotta go, sorry.’

The twins rushed out the front door and scurried to the lift. Pardi immediately called the building’s security.

The twins exited the lift on the ground floor. They were about to leave the building when several security guards converged on them. They tried to get through the front door of the building, but a security guard cut them off.

‘Get out of the way,’ shouted Yassmay.

‘Not today, princess,’ said the guard.

Yassmay kicked him hard in the leg, and Yassme pushed him down. Yassmay reached to open the door, but it was locked.

Guards grabbed the twins from behind. Both twins struggled. Yassmay bit her guard on the arm. Yassme broke free of the guard’s grip. Both twins ran towards the back entrance, leaving their things behind. Yassmay was ahead of Yassme. Yassmay grabbed the door handle of the backdoor, but it was locked. Yassme had now caught up with Yassmay.

‘The building has been locked down,’ called out one of the guards. ‘You’re not going anywhere.’

Yassmay ran and grabbed a fire extinguisher. She sprayed the guards around her. Then she hurled the fire extinguisher through the door’s window. Yassme jumped through the smashed window, landing outside.

Yassmay was about to follow, but a guard prodded her with his stun gun. She fell to the ground, yelping in pain. A guard grabbed her arms. He handcuffed them behind her back. Yassme got to her feet. She could see her sister was not going to escape. She climbed back through the smashed window. A guard grabbed her, and another handcuffed her.

Pardi came out of the lift. ‘You have been very naughty girls,’ said Pardi. ‘Look at all the damage you have caused. You even hurt my not-so-highly trained security guards.’ Pardi looked at the two of them while shaking his head.

‘We’re not sorry,’ shouted Yassme. ‘We’re sick of your lies.’

‘Well, she looks sorry,’ said Pardi as he looked at Yassmay hanging limp off the security guard’s arm.

Pardi looked across at his security team and said, ‘Take my daughters somewhere where they can cool down for a bit.’ Four guards took the twins away.

Pardi turned to the remaining guards. ‘We are going to the train station,’ he instructed them.

Orcille, disguised as the attractive female, was on Platform 2 of the train station with Daily. Orcille was feeling concerned as the platform began to fill with Sapiens, but there was no sign of the twins.

‘Maybe they changed their minds?’ asked Daily.

‘I don’t think so,’ said Orcille. ‘They had made up their minds when we spoke yesterday.’

‘What now?’ asked Daily.

‘We wait,’ replied Orcille.

The train came into view. It was rapidly approaching the platform. Pardi had sent guards up to all the platforms.

Pardi chose Platform 2. He shapeshifted into one of his guards. Orcille saw the two guards come out of the lift.

‘Looks like we have a problem,’ said Orcille.

Pardi recognised Daily. ‘Hey, you work for Carvaress,’ shouted Pardi to Daily as he jogged towards him.

‘Yes, I do,’ said Daily. ‘I’m just taking some time off.’

Orcille turned to his side. He faced downward, so the guard could not take a good look at him. At this point, he realised that the guard was actually her father.

Pardi pulled up his phone to scan Daily’s face.

‘You’re Daily, right?’ asked Pardi.

‘Yes, sir,’ replied Daily nervously.

‘Have you had a busy week?’ asked Pardi.

‘I’ve been a little ill,’ replied Daily with a slight stutter.

Pardi reached out and grabbed Orcille’s arm. Orcille pushed Pardi away and became invisible. The other guard approached Pardi and Daily.

Pardi turned towards the guard. ‘Detain him,’ demanded Pardi.

‘Why?’ asked the guard.

‘Mr. Carvaress said so,’ replied Pardi angrily.

Pardi ran into a nearby bathroom. He shapeshifted back into himself. He quickly exited the bathroom. He ran to the platform control room.

‘Stop this train from leaving,’ Pardi demanded.

The officer in the control room announced that the departure of the train had been delayed. Pardi walked along the platform, occasionally glancing through the train windows as he made his way towards the other end.

‘Orcille, I know you are here,’ shouted Pardi. ‘I just want to talk.’ There was no response. Pardi continued walking along the platform. ‘I know you arranged to meet my daughters here. That was a bad decision.’

Pardi noticed a service door was open. He went through the service door. ‘I had to take the necessary actions. I love my daughters, but this kind of behaviour cannot be tolerated.’

Pardi began walking down a stairwell. He reached a lower level. ‘If you care about the twins, you will come out and talk. It is certainly in their best interest,’ he called out. There was still no response.

One of the guards called Pardi on his phone. ‘The character we detained is in possession of several drugs stolen from the Carvaress area of the medical centre,’ the guard told Pardi.

‘Excellent, thank you,’ replied Pardi into his phone.

‘Looks like you don’t have your medication,’ called out Pardi.

Pardi continued to walk around on the lower level. He heard a door open. He quickly moved in the direction of the sound. He saw a slightly open door. ‘Come out. Let’s talk. Just talk,’ said Pardi.

Pardi pulled out his phone to call his security to come down. He suddenly took a hit in the back. He fell forward through the doorway. His phone popped out of his hand and landed on the floor outside the room he fell into. Pardi turned to leave the room and retrieve his phone, but the door slammed hard in his face.

Orcille made his way up the stairwell to the platform. He shapeshifted into Pardi. He approached one of his guards, still on the platform.

‘Bring the twins to the station,’ commanded Orcille.

The guard pulled his phone out of his pouch. He was about to call the guards holding the twins when he noticed Pardi’s phone’s proximity alert had been activated.

‘Sir, it appears you have dropped your phone,’ stated the guard.

‘No, I haven’t,’ replied Orcille angrily. ‘Just do your job and bring the twins here.’

The guard walked away from Orcille. He called the guards, holding the twins. ‘The boss wants the twins brought to the train station.’

‘We were given strict orders to keep them away from the train station,’ replied the guards holding the twins.

‘I suggest you call Mr. Carvaress to confirm this instruction then,’ said the guard on the platform.

The guard turned towards Orcille. He heard the phone ring. Orcille pulled the phone out, but he could not answer the call as it was fingerprint activated.

‘Any problems, sir,’ asked the guard.

‘Just greasy fingers,’ said Orcille.

The guard pulled out his phone to scan Orcille’s face.

‘What the hell are you doing?’ asked Orcille angrily.

The scanner showed no match. The guard reached for his stun gun. Orcille punted him hard between the legs. Then he ran back to the stairwell. Once he entered the stairwell, he became invisible again. The guard slowly got to his feet. He messaged the other guards, telling them to pursue an imposter, Mr. Carvaress.

Orcille ran to the room Pardi was trapped in. He dropped the phone outside the door and unlocked it.

Pardi heard the door unlock. He pushed it open. ‘Now are we going to talk like sensible adults?’ he asked. There was no response. Pardi picked up his phone. He was about to call the guards for help when a guard came around the corner.

The guard had his stun gun out. ‘Don’t move,’ shouted the guard. The guard pulled his phone out with his other hand. He scanned Pardi’s face. The scanner identified him as Pardi Carvaress.

‘Sir, I’m so sorry,’ said the guard. ‘There is someone impersonating you.’

They both heard a train arriving at Platform 4. ‘Quick, we need to stop him from leaving on that train,’ said Pardi.

Pardi and the guard rushed across the lower floor to a stairwell that led to Platform 4. They rushed up the stairs. The door was locked. The guard accompanying Pardi messaged the guard on Platform 4 to open the door. Pardi began shouting impatiently.

Finally, the guard opened the door from the other side. The train on Platform 4 was departing the station. Pardi threw his arms up in frustration.

Meanwhile, Orcille exited the lift on the ground floor and left the station.
