The Mighty Hand Of God

6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:6-7.

Most people notice 1 Peter 5:7, "casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you." Notice that this verse starts with a verb, "casting." Most people wouldn't start a sentence with the word casting. So, you have to look to the verse before it to learn how to "cast your care upon Him."

You do this by humbling yourself. Realize that we are not big enough to hand most situations on our own. We need the help of God. We are humbling ourselves under the mighty hand of God. That means that God is strong enough to "handle" our situation.

I like to think about it this way. No matter where I walk, God's mighty hand is surrounding me. It might not be easy. If God exalts us or lifts us out of a situation in due time, that means it is not going to be easy. But, it is not going to be forever.

So we are going to go through some hard times. God doesn't promise us an easy life. We grow in the Lord by going through trials. However, God's mighty hand is there to keep us safe. The difficult time won't be forever as God will eventually lift us out of the situation. In the meantime, any cares or anxiety about the problem, we can cast on him. He is strong enough to carry our burdens, but we are not.
